I have always liked looking up. In cities, especially among tall buildings, the view above street level often reveals a completely different landscape. Facades rise and disappear from the usual perspective, while edges, corners and silhouettes begin to draw unexpected geometries against the open sky.

What interests me is the relationship between the solid weight of architecture and the apparent emptiness of the sky. A building can become a simple dark shape, a diagonal line or a fragment of geometry. When several structures meet within the frame, the space between them becomes just as important as the buildings themselves.

These photographs come from that habit of raising my eyes and observing what is happening above me. I am not necessarily looking for a particular building or architectural landmark. I am looking for alignments, intersections, repetitions and contrasts — for those brief compositions created by architecture, perspective and light.

Sky Lines is therefore less a record of specific places and more a collection of graphic observations: fragments of large buildings whose lines and silhouettes momentarily transform the sky into part of the architecture.

Sempre gostei de olhar para cima. Nas cidades, sobretudo entre edifícios altos, a vista acima do nível da rua revela frequentemente uma paisagem diferente, feita de linhas, silhuetas, geometrias e espaços vazios contra o céu.

Estas fotografias são observações gráficas mais do que um registo de edifícios específicos: fragmentos de arquitetura onde perspetiva, luz e enquadramento transformam momentaneamente o céu em parte da própria composição.
